Mission

To promote and foster cooperation among Catholic bioethicists through prayer, friendship, discussion, and collaborative research, so that we may better serve our lords, the sick, and those who care for them.

Goals

The emphasis of the IACB is “faith seeking understanding”. The IACB seeks to advance the thinking of Catholic bioethicists on controversial and emerging questions in bioethics. By creating a network for international collaboration, the IACB seeks to increase the capacity of Catholic bioethicists to participate in public discussions and to promote ethics in health care and research globally.

Activities

Bioethicists associated with the IACB join a community of supportive peers, receive information relevant to their work, and participate in IACB-sponsored events and projects such as an international colloquium every 2 years; national and regional colloquia; collaborations in education, research and publications.

Sponsorship

The IACB is supported by various national associations of the Order of Malta.

St. John the Baptist, beloved patron of the IACB, pray that our minds and hearts may be open to hear and to follow the Word of God, who for our sake was made flesh and dwells amongst us still,

by the working of the Holy Spirit.

Our Lady of Lourdes, help us to grow in love and devotion to the sick and the needy,

particularly those most neglected. Amen.
